A Year of Gratitude: Day 269

Today I am grateful that the garage sale my mom, sister, and I have been running the last day-and-a-half is over with.  For some reason, I kind of like having a garage sale, and I think part of that comes with the giant clean-out that must precede said sale.  And this time I am not keeping anything that was in the sale, and only a few things have come back to the house in an attempt to sell them another way (craigslist or e-bay).  I wish I could say that that is because I sold a TON of stuff, but it's actually because I was able to take all the stuff that didn't sell to Goodwill only an hour after the sale was finished.

So my house is a little neater and my pocket has a little extra cash in it.  Win-win!

Have a wonderful night!

Broken Hearted Pt. 5 and Other Tidbits

Yeah, the last few nights have sucked ... a lot. More of the same: sobbing in the middle of the night (last night, my son cried so hard he lost his breath and choked a bit - it was awful), waking up earlier than usual, and now hardly napping. Am I doing something wrong? Yes, he is getting himself back to sleep, but shouldn't some aspect of this be getting even a little easier? He is crying for shorter amounts of time at night, but the sobbing is still intense and lonely.

Oh, before I forget ... I made $276.25 in the garage sale! Not too shabby, if I do say so myself. That said, I won't be having another one for a LONG time. It was a lot of work and now that our house is more cleaned out we don't NEED to do it.

Mother's Day was nice. I'll try to post more about that later, though, when I can get the pictures up.

I wanna see this movie. You?

I didn't do an Mmm ... Monday post ... crap! I'll try to put up a recipe for Tasty Tuesday. If not, I'm sure my small readership will be okay. You'll survive. And I'll post two next week.

We're going to the park today with an old high school (heck, elementary school) friend Lisa and her daughter Ellie. I'm bringing my camera so hopefully I'll have pictures for you soon.

I've made a lot of promises in this post ... hopefully I'll live up to them.

Have a wonderful day! I'll try to write more later when life calms down a bit.

5:00 a.m. Sucks!

Yeah, today and yesterday I got up at 5:00 a.m. to get ready for the garage sale. Yesterday it was necessary to get up that early - I had a lot to do. But today I probably could have slept in more ... but I HAD to pump so I had to get up. I am exhausted.

And, of course, it's pouring out today. We said we'd be open "rain or shine" so we've got to do the sale again today, but I'm wondering how many customers we'll actually get. If I didn't have to, I wouldn't go out in this mess today.

Yesterday went pretty well with the sale ... some highlights/lowlights:

One of our earlier customers of the day was an older gentleman (probably in his mid- to late seventies) who was wearing an Elvis Presley 45 (record) for a necklace ... it was tied to his neck with a leather cord. Awesome!

One of our customers smelled like pot and just HAD to purchase Dazed and Confused.

Another customer came in with a supposed bottle of Mtn. Dew but smelled like alcohol (according to my mom, a.k.a. the family bloodhound).

A lady who bought at least three large jar candles was picking them up to carry them off when she lifted one by the lid (a BIG no no), it dropped and broke, and she cut her finger really bad on the glass. She was bleeding profusely and probably ended up needing stitches. Definitely a lowlight.

I sold most of our large items! Yay!

So that's that. We'll see how today goes ... we're only open from 8 a.m. to noon, so hopefully it'll be an easier day. Maybe I'll take a nap this afternoon - the thought is absolutely intoxicating. Sadly, though, it probably won't happen ... our garage is full of "treasures" that will need to be taken to Goodwill if they don't sell.

Wish us luck!
