Today I am grateful for the giant bag of Mackintosh seconds I got from a local orchard this afternoon. They smelled like an autumnal heaven, and I am looking forward to whipping them up into another batch of delicious homemade applesauce to sock away for the winter. I should mention this is the second bag of this kind (large paper grocery bag style) I have gotten in the last week and a half and all of it is being made into applesauce. Being the slowest cook on the face of the earth means that this process is rather long and arduous, but it will be so worth it when we have tons of homemade applesauce to enjoy during the winter.
