One Month Ago Today ...

... this little lady came into our lives.

And she's certainly got a hold on us.

Happy first month, Miss Mollie!

Bubbles, Bubbles

There is something magical about bubbles.

Something no kid can resist.

Something that can turn an ordinary day into a dream land.

While this was the first experience with bubbles, it certainly won't be our last.

One Month Ago Tonight ...

I wrote this blog post about putting Little B to bed and how I had one week and one night left before I wasn't going to get to put him to bed for a while.

And tonight, for the first time in exactly one month, I got to put him to bed. And it was lovely and wonderful. A little different from last time, but sweet and cuddly all the same.

It felt like a long month, but then it also felt like just yesterday. It's amazing what can change in a month ...

To the Mat ...

THAT Kid?

I apologize if any of you reading were that kid or are that adult. I mean no offense to you.

I'll preface my post by saying that I don't like condiments; I don't understand them, particularly the cold ones that go on hot foods (e.g., ketchup on french fries). So you can imagine my displeasure at the prospect that my little man might be one of those kids who wants ketchup on everything.

Seriously, the kid took his little spork, scooped it full of ketchup, and ate it! He had ketchup on broccoli, asparagus, and carrots (and on his burger, of course).

He kept reaching for the bottle and asking for more!

I'm envisioning a future where I have to carry copious amounts of ketchup packets in our diaper bag to get him to eat anything. Say it isn't so!

But ...

I guess if he's gonna be that kid but be this happy ...

I can be okay with that.

Firsts: Piggy Bank and The Play Mat

After receiving some coins in the mail from his Great-Aunt Marty, my little man got to put them in his piggy bank for the first time. He had a little trouble at first, as he tended to lay the coin across the hole instead of slipping it into the hole.

But he eventually got it. Saving money is serious business, you know?

And I finally broke out the play mat for Miss Mollie to try.

She was in the middle of cluster feeding at the time so she didn't enjoy it as much as Baylor used to, but I think she'll get there.

Ah, my cuties!

Elevator!

Ever since our recent stay in the hospital, Baylor has been talking about elevators nonstop. He mentions them at least once a day, usually in reference to when he rode them at the hospital (we know this because he sometimes mentions "baby"). Rarely, however, does he get to ride them, though, so yesterday's trip to the mall was a real treat for him.

We rode the mall's main elevator up to the second floor for lunch, then back down to do some more shopping, but he had been such a good boy for the trip (and in life in general) that I wanted to treat him to an extra ride. So, on our way out, we stopped off in Younkers and Baylor and I rode the elevator together.

First, "butt"! (He got to push the button.)

"Two!"

(Amalia slept the whole time, unaffected by the excitement around her.)

Once we got to the second level, he and I got off and let some other people go down. He then got to push the button again, this time commenting "red" and "V" (the down arrow looked like a V and it had a red lighted ring around it).

"One!"

Yeah, he wanted to go on it again, and there were some tears when he found out we were done. But I think he enjoyed his little treat, and it is a nice memory for me to have shared with him.

Holding Her

Baylor got to "hold" his sister for the first time the other day.

Maybe next time he'll actually use his hands.

Aww, So Helpful!

My little man has been quite the helper these days. One of his favorite tasks has been helping set the table. He sneaks his hand past the child lock to get the hot pads for the table.

And again to get out the place mats.

And he sets them lovingly on the table.

It's actually quite adorable, and I don't mind the help a bit. It certainly keeps him busy as he has to get each thing (2 hot pads and 2 place mats) one at a time.

Oh, and did I mention he can drive?

Okay, not exactly. But he did let himself into my husband's car, climb up on the driver's seat, and start playing with the steering wheel and wiper control ... all by himself.

Yeah, he's gonna be one of those kids you see on the news who steals their parents' car at age five. Oy!

My Little Who's Trip to Meijer

This past Monday, Amalia joined my sister and I for her first trip to the grocery store and, true to form, she slept through the entire experience.

Doesn't she look like the Who children from the original How The Grinch Stole Christmas movie? When they're all sleeping in bed and the Grinch steals candy canes from under their hands?

You could totally slide a candy cane under those adorable little hands and she'd be a Who!
