(This was started yesterday, but I never got a chance to finish it. So here it is ...)
Today I am so very grateful we live on top of a hill. Our poor city is quickly flooding because of heavy rains, and as I hear of people's basements flooding, rivers creeping up backyards, cars submerged, and roads washed out, I feel very lucky and very grateful that we are not currently being affected by it. I look out our window and though things look wet, nothing is under any water.
In Michigan there are so many times we want our weather people to be wrong and this is most certainly one of them.
Have a wonderful, safe day!

"Waiting to Exhale": Update
On August 16th I wrote about a woman in our area that was dying of cystic fibrosis, one of the many on the list for a double lung transplant. Early this week, her condition worsened to the point that she was removed from the transplant list and doctors were put to the task of keeping her comfortable.
This morning she passed away.
In her death, however, she may have saved other lives; she was an organ donor herself, and her story inspired at least 309 people, according to the Gift of Life Michigan, to register as organ donors.
If you haven't already done so yet, sign up as an organ donor in your area. It's a small thing you can do to help someone else.
All my sympathies go out to Kerry's family in this time of mourning.

Arrival Date?
So yeah, I got a surgery information packet from our hospital yesterday. At first I thought it was just an innocuous piece of literature they were sending to me so I'd know what to expect (even though I've had a c-section there before and pretty much get the gist of it). Then I happened to glance down at the "important information" section on the inside cover. Yeah, they scheduled our c-section date for us.
Ooookay.
So apparently (tentatively) our little Paco will be born on Monday, March 29th, 2010 at around 7:30 a.m. Give or take.
Fair enough.
We were kinda hoping to have the kiddo on a Friday so my husband could spend the maximum amount of time with us at home on his week off, but it just didn't work out that way.
So, everyone, unless complications arise or early labor sets in, our baby will be born at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, March 29th, 2010! Yay!!!
(And yes, it's weird to know the actual day and time.)

Most Pierced Woman ... Whoa

Yeah, has anyone else read about Elaine Davidson? She is the most pierced woman in the world and has been since 2000 when she had 462 piercings. She now has 6,005 piercings (over 1,000 of which she claims are internal ... according to foxnews.com). What is she thinking? She claims to not even enjoy getting pierced (which was my first thought when I heard about her). What would possess somone to do this to their body?
