We started off the day with a little lady who did NOT want to get dressed. She actually walked away from getting her diaper changed with her pajamas still attached at her ankles! She was that desperate to stay naked. Awesome.
Mom, Dad, and Christine went for a walk around the harbor ...
... and down by t-dock ...
... while Bryson and I took the kiddos to the pool. It looked like Baylor was going to abstain from swimming yet again, but with a little patience and a lot of gentle coaxing, we finally got him in!
Ambitious as he is, Bryson tried to get Baylor to put his head under and blow bubbles. No dice, Dad, no dice.
Mollie actually ended up being the more challenging child during this visit because she wanted to be completely free of adult supervision and assistance. Meaning she kept waddling into water that was too deep for her. So I'd pick her up and she'd pitch a fit, we'd walk back to the shallow area, I'd set her down, she'd waddle to deeper water ... repeat. Finally, I got so sick of her wanting to go under and whatnot that I dunked her. Not ordinarily something I would do, but I figured she could handle it. And I was right, she could. Unlike Baylor at ANY age, she did not freak out when I put her under. I actually did it a couple more times and she was still relatively cool with it.
Baylor practiced kicking a little bit while his sister was acting up.
Then we paused for a family photo.
Even this was not enough freedom for the little chicky. Whew! Amazing how much energy a twenty-two pound squirming child can extract from you.
After getting the kids down for naps, we got cleaned up and prepared to go on a boat ride. Unfortunately, we didn't get the kids down quite early enough/Baylor boycotted napping for a while, so we had to wake him up well before he was ready. That, my friends, never goes over well. Poor Baylor spent the first few minutes on the boat sobbing. Bryson was ready to take him off, but I voted to keep him there and let him try to calm down. I'm so glad we stayed because he ended up having a blast!
Mollie did too, in case you were wondering. She was so happy to people-watch and feel the breeze through her hair.
So how did Baylor get over the sobbing? For some reason, Aunt Cynthia asking if he wanted to go outside and look for dolphins was what did it. He spent a ton of time out there with her, mostly counting channel markers.
There was a bar on board and I figured it was the perfect time to let Mollie try a strawberry daiquiri. She LOVED it!!
Yes it was a virgin strawberry daiquiri ... what kind of mother do you think I am?!
Ah, looking at the numbers on channel markers has never drawn such a crowd!
This particular channel marker had an osprey nest on it with two young osprey moseying around, and Baylor loved it! He kept saying, "The baby birds are soooo cuuuute!"
From the left to the right ... Uncle Andy, Aunt Cynthia, me, Baylor, and Bryson. The nearly permanent residents of the bow of the boat.
At some point, Baylor figured out he could easily see out the hole in the front of the boat, so he spent a lot of time there just looking.
And, as per usual, Mollie wanted to be in on whatever her brother was doing.
Doesn't she look super cute in her sunglasses? I'm shocked at how long she kept them on.
After the boat ride, we went back to the condo for a lovely pizza dinner. Some sat inside, some sat outside, but it was nice to have so much family together!
After dinner, we headed out for some ice cream at Scoops and Slices. At first, Baylor wanted to hold hands ...
Then he just wanted to be held. But not given a ride on Daddy's shoulders.
"But look, you're taller than Grandpa E up here!" Even that wasn't cool enough to keep the little man aloft.
On the walk back, Baylor wanted to touch the grass on the golf course. It was so nice to have him closer to his normal self!
Our last full day was fun and eventful, and we enjoyed all of it in pristine weather conditions.
But then it was time to travel ...
*sigh*
