The third day found Baylor uninterested in eating his breakfast; not overly surprising since his cold was so bad. So he just rested a bit.
He did, however, enjoy having so many people around to talk to in the morning.
It was so nice to see such a genuine smile from him in spite of his cold.
Mollie enjoyed having people around in the morning, too, and was very happy to share her puffs with Oma.
My Aunt Cynthia, Uncle Andy, and cousin Delaney were vacationing on Sanibel Island at the same time as us, so we got together that third day and spent time enjoying Florida together. We went for a walk on the beach and saw some cool birds. (We also saw a bunch of dolphins pretty close to shore, but getting a picture of one is MUCH easier said than done.)
The weather was fantastic; just what we all needed after winters in Michigan and Maine.
For dinner we went to Key Lime Bistro and had some delicious food. My key lime pie was unbelievable, a perfect slice of tart creaminess.
The Cartwright/Curtins came back to enjoy the sunset with us.
And they got to experience Mollie's "late night" antics. For some reason while we were in Captiva, she took to walking back and forth across the living room, shrieking with delight the whole way. It was quite adorable.
The next morning we had a big trip to the pool planned, so after breakfast and some snacks ...
... we headed on down to the pool! Mollie got to try out her new Hanna Andersson bathing suit, and I was really pleased with how well it performed, how cute it looked, and how comfortable she seemed in it.
While Mollie was itching to get in the pool, Baylor preferred to stay on the side and watch.
And water some flowers, of course.
After checking the pool out thoroughly ...
... Mollie decided it was time to venture in.
And as long as she had her binkie she was content to waddle around the pool and explore.
She and Daddy even made it to the deeper area together and were able to enjoy watching people go down the water slides.
After we finished at the pool, we headed to The Pointe to have lunch. The kids enjoyed water with fun uber-bendy straws ...
... and Baylor was in hysterics after seeing this bird make off with a French fry.
Anything that is able to put a smile on his face after a struggle at the pool is fine with me.
Of course, anything that makes Baylor happy is golden in Mollie's book.
For awake as she seemed during lunch, however, she certainly got drowsy on the walk back to the condo.
So drowsy, in fact, that she actually stayed asleep while I changed her very poopy diaper! Amazing what some time at the pool can do to a little girl!
After a nice nap, Mollie was ready to go again. She is truly becoming an eating machine and really enjoys a good Goldfish cracker snack in the afternoon. (Well, any time really.)
Our third and fourth days in Florida were great, and it was so nice to finally be able to enjoy the awesome weather we were having down there.
Stay tuned for pictures and commentary from the rest of the trip!
