Bryson's 30th Birthday: Part Two

We finally got a chance to celebrate Bryson's 30th birthday with his parents last night, our first attempt having been thwarted by croup.  Mollie and Baylor actually got to hang out with Grandma and Grandpa while Bryson and I finished a few things up at home.  (We're in the middle of a little redecorating ... I'll try to share that with you a little later.)

Mollie was dressed up in her adorable halter top and giraffe-print skirt, and she had tons of fun exploring the bins of toys.

Baylor was more into reading and wanted to read the Cars book in particular.

The birthday boy got to enjoy a little wine and observe the festivities.

Mollie enjoyed a little time with Mrs. Potato Head.

Then Grandpa Chris read the Cars book to the little man.

He tried to read it to Mollie too, but she's a bit little for that and lost interest quickly.

Soon it was time for the birthday boy to blow out his candles (which he - sadly - had to light for himself).

As per usual, Baylor just wanted to smile with Bryson during the singing of the Happy Birthday Song.

Then Bryson blew out his candles with his mom looking on.

Of course, the moment we stopped singing, Baylor protested, "No, no!  You sang it wrong!  You have to sing it to "Daddy"!"  What a cutie!

Then we all dug into cupcakes I made: lemon cake with raspberry butter cream frosting.  Yikes!  The cake part was delicious and refreshing, but the frosting was a bit weak as far as the raspberry flavor went.  Even Mollie got in on the action!

With our weather being so humid and the type of cake mix I used being of the moist variety, the cake stuck to  Mollie's had pretty badly.

Then Grandpa Chris showed her how to eat food off her fingers.

After a little more play time it was time for us to head on home.  Baylor, unfortunately, did not want to go home.

But, alas, it was time.  Nonetheless, we had a lot of fun!  Thanks again, Chris and Paula, for such warm hospitality!

And last, but certainly not least ... happy birthday, Bryson!
