Big Boy Shoes!

Now that he is officially walking, it was time to get some shoes for my little man! Being the shoe-loving ladies that they are, Oma and Aunt Christine were up to the task of helping us find the perfect pair for Little B.

We headed off to Stride Rite, apparently THE place to get your first pair of walkin' shoes. Baylor took the store instantly, keeping Aunt Christine on her toes as he went exploring.

"Ooh! Boots!"

We finally got him to sit next to me and the salesperson explained to us the best first shoes for walking. So we had her bring those and the second best first shoes for walking in his size, a 5 1/2 wide, out from the back.

The best first walking shoes only came in a brilliant white color and were insanely rigid. But, she got them jammed on his pudgy little feet and he tested them out ...

... and hated them.

The second best walking shoes came in black or brown, but they only had black in his size. So we tried those.

He still seemed quite unsure about the shoes, but at least he'd hold on to just our fingers.

After a couple minutes, he almost didn't seem to notice them.

So that's what we got! Only the second best for my kiddo! Just kidding! (Hey, if he wouldn't wear "the best" then it wouldn't be worth it, right?)
Just look at the supreme joy on his little face!

He even got to wear them out of the store and for the rest of the day (save one diaper change).

Just after my mom and sister dropped us off at home, he got the hang of walking in them and all was right with the world again. He has since acquired another pair of decidedly more stylish/sporty tennis shoes and though it takes him a bit to get used to walking in either pair, he eventually warms up to it and ventures off.
I know it's cliche to say this, but I can't believe how quickly he's growing up!
Oh, and thank you to my mom for purchasing his first and second pairs of shoes! Hopefully they will last him a very long time and get TONS of good use! We really appreciate it!
