Tick Tock: Ants Galore Update

Who knew the caulk would be the problem?

In my search for caulk today, I read the backs of several bottles of caulk only to find out that the fumes from the caulk (I think it was the fumes anyways) have been shown to cause birth defects in lab rats.

Great.

Being pregnant and all, I didn't want to even delve into that mess, so I am currently stalled on the ant eviction process. I think my next move might involve some sort of wooden shim or something else to physically stop up the hole. (Think polymer clay would work? I have that in spades and can make a lovely wood grain out of it!) I also might try ProCaulk (yes, you've see it on TV) and see if that is as dangerous as regular caulk.

Ironically enough, the ant spray I got doesn't seem to be overly harmful to humans at all ... as long as you use it properly.

If you guys have any ideas on how I can safely take care of this problem, let me know. I know pretty much where the little buggers are coming in ... the trim has pulled away from the flooring in one spot and seems to be the entry point for the ants.

Have a wonderful day!
