Christmas 2012: Early Christmas Number One

Our kids are lucky in so many ways; they have tons of people who love them, they are healthy, they are pretty smart, and they have a warm home to live in.  They are also lucky in that they get like five or six Christmases almost every year ... I know, it's insane, right?  We have one with our close friends and their girls, the grandparents on both sides (and Aunt Christine) each do an early one so they won't be overwhelmed on Christmas eve or day, then we have Christmas eve, Christmas day, and this year we actually had a Boxing Day Christmas.  They aren't given copious amounts of gifts at each one - sometimes it might just be a single gift and holiday cheer - but they are still celebrations nonetheless.

The first one this year was with our good friends the O'Neills, and of course I didn't take any pictures of it; completely unlike me, I know, but it happens sometimes.

The second one, one of our "early Christmases" was with my in-laws.  My mother-in-law knows how tough it is on kids to get presents on one of the big days and not be able to play with it for fear of losing parts or creating a mess, so she likes to give them their gifts early so they can play with them right off the bat.  Awesome, huh?!

Mollie got all sorts of fancy for the occasion in a purple dress up costume.

They gave her her first big doll, who we have since named Jovie after Zooey Deschanel's character in Elf, and a matching doll-girl outfits set.  She was thrilled!

Baylor got Cars Monopoly and, just as expected, wanted to play it right away.  So we did!

It was a nice little evening, very relaxed and low-key, something you can rarely say about the holidays, right?  And the kids loved everything they got, which is a feat in and of itself.  Happy holidays, take one!
